Use line and word editing combined.

• suggest how to replace misused words and phrases.

• check for sentence structure inconsistencies.

• check that headings/subheadings are well placed 

• edit tables, figures, and lists 

• edit photo captions if requested to do so 

• edit notes, references, and bibliographies 

stylistic - will help clarify your meaning, eliminate jargon, correct faulty syntax, and give your writing an overall polish. 


An intense developmental edit is a focus on your overall book message and whether it's presented effectively through your writing. Have you targeted your audience using appropriate language and voice? Will your message connect with your audience? Does your writing shine and engaging enough to keep your readers tuned in? We look at your overall organization and presentation at the chapter, and paragraph level. We work with what you have written and assess it for structure and flow. When necessary, we move paragraphs to connect ideas better. We suggest necessary cuts and possibly rearranging topics and chapters.

For creative works, we look for well-developed story arcs, plot flow, character development, descriptive settings, and central conflicts.

An Editorial Evaluation - this is a manuscript check-up and review. We read and then critique your manuscript, writing a thorough review. We discuss your book's strengths and weaknesses and what you can do to improve your writing. Included, is the style sheet listed below. We also suggest the level of editing you need. ($450 for an evaluation only for manuscripts 20,000 - 50,000 words. additional costs for higher word count.)


OUR PROCESS:

To help you follow our changes, we include written comments or queries explaining why we suggest the change. We use Google Doc. editing tools: edit mode, and comments tabs so that you can see and approve changes. Manuscripts accepted in Microsoft Word or Google Doc. formats.


In addition, we can create a Style Sheet that outlines the rules of punctuation, how numbers are used, what is capitalized and what is not, and how words are spelled. Finally, we identify the specialized words you use so that they are used consistently, how your voice and tone are depicted and your target audience. (style guides are useful for those looking to author more books.) -*additional costs
